Tulum & Xelha: A Tale of Two Places

During my trip to Cancun, I took a day trip, 30 km [80 mi] south to the Mayan city of Tulum. While Cancun is a modern city built over 40 years ago, Tulum was built in the late 13th century and still stands today. Tulum is the only mayan city that was built on a coast.

Xel-Há is a natural aquarium where hundreds of species inhabit; such as tropical fish and an abundant flora. In the park there is also a turtle reserve, where research is constantly carried out to learn more about marine life and contribute with the ecological maintenance of the area.
